Fitbit Luxe
Standout: Best looking
Jam-packed with all the great features on Fitbit’s tracking devises – from stress management, to sleep tools and fitness tracking, Fitbit’s lux offering has stepped up in the design stakes to make this all-encompassing tracker look like a piece of jewellery.
Samsung Galaxy Watch
Standout: Looks like an actual watch
A perfect choice for Android users, the Samsung Galaxy watch looks like a classy timepiece—but it consistently measures your activity, sleep, and calorie burn. It also brings your calendar, calls, weather, and workout suggestions right to your wrist.
Plus, you can connect it to your favorite apps, like Spotify for music or SmartThings for added home security.
Garmin Fenix 6 Pro
Standout: Goals
Garmin watches in the Fenix 6 series are getting a software update that’ll add a set of new tools encouraging you to push yourself that little bit harder. From rate of perceived exertion (training with heart rate zones) to updated challenges (goals you can sign up for through the Garmin Connect app, which you can complete to earn virtual badges), and the Fitness Age too (specific workout suggestions to help you hit the recommended target) – the tech is really amping up.
Whoop 3.0
Standout: recovery
The key benefit of Whoop is its tailored advice. Anyone can count their steps and burn a certain amount of calories, but few of us can really dial into our training and the recovery we are getting each night. By providing greater insight into our body’s ability to take on stress and recover, Whoop has done the extraordinary and given us all a tool previously only afforded to athletes. Now, we’re not just getting fit, but doing so holistically by avoiding overtraining.
Fitbit Charge 4
Standout: Automatic tracking
You don’t have to worry about forgetting to record your workout with the Fitbit Charge 4 — it recognises when you’re moving.
The same goes for sleep. The corresponding app will offer insights into how much shut-eye you’re getting and in what stages you’re spending most of your zzz’s.
Add that to 50m water-restance, period tracking and your standard day-to-day apps (calendar, weather apps, etc) and you’ve got a winner.
Huawei Band 6
Standout: price
The Huawei Band 6 doesn’t try to be a running watch or a smart watch, instead, it does its best to be the best fitness tracker, which in our opinion, it is – especially considering the price.
At $139 the watch can track heart rate 24/7, just like big league smartwatches, with relative accuracy thanks to its TruSeen 4.0 heart rate monitoring technology that “uses an optical lens and AI-based data processing” to provide more accurate readings. As well as that, the Band 6 is also capable of ‘all-day’ SpO2 monitoring.
Last, but, certainly not least, it’s TruSleep 2.0 Sleep Tracking absolutely nailed the brief, providing customised sleep reports – working nicely with the robust sleep analysis section in the Huawei Health app.
Suunto 9
Standout: Outdoors
For the adventurous gal, this savvy watch has you covered. It’s noticeably less bulky than most other GPS watches, yet durable and designed for nature’s wear and tear. Plus the newest version of this timepiece is water-resistant up to 100 meters. The maps feature leaves a breadcrumb trail of your route as well as sunrise and sunset warnings so you can return safely from a hike or run.
Apple Watch Series 6
Standout: Daily health
The latest generation is the smartest yet, featuring an upgraded, brighter “always on” technology so you can check your stats mid-plank without the screen going dark.
Like former generations of the watch, you can track your individual workouts, but, with this model, Apple also finally launched its own virtual workout platform, Fitness+, and it’s the only digital exercise experience built around the Apple Watch.
