Dr. Rhonda Patrick Tells Joe Rogan the Risk of Adverse Reactions to the Covid Vaccine Are Relatively Low

The most recent guest on the hugely popular The Joe Rogan Experience is Rhonda Patrick PhD, a cell biologist whose work focuses on promoting a healthier, longer lifespan. Joe Rogan has interviewed academics on an array of topics before, but Patrick’s appearance on the show was slightly different, in that she took the opportunity to speak on the dangers of medical misinformation surrounding the Covid vaccine to Rogan’s 190 million-strong audience.

Patrick presented an argument for getting vaccinated even if you are young, healthy and active, a stance in direct opposition to the position taken by Rogan in previous episodes.

While Rogan cited the issue of young people experiencing side effects from the vaccine, such as strokes, blood clots, and myocarditis, Patrick was able to point to evidence that these conditions were on the rise even prior to the pandemic, and are still found in greater instances in unvaccinated people. “If you look at the data, young people are also experiencing those things at a higher rate,” she said.

“You’re either going to get infected with SARS-COV-2, most people are eventually, we’re all going to be exposed to it, so you’re either going to be vaccinated when you’re exposed to it or you’re not,” she continued. “People are dying from heart attacks and blood clots, and even myocarditis, 100-fold times more than the vaccines.”

Rogan also made the argument that people who are healthy and don’t have comorbidities have suffered thrombosis and myocarditis as a result of the vaccine, but again, Patrick countered this by highlighting the comparatively low level of risk.

“It seems as though, no matter which way you look at it, it is worse to be exposed to the virus,” she said. “How do you know that the person who had myocarditis wouldn’t have had it worse with Covid-19? It’s been shown to happen in young, healthy athletes.”

Rogan has been criticized for making public remarks about the vaccine which many deem irresponsible and potentially even dangerous, given his enormous platform. In a previous episode of his show, he said that he didn’t believe people who were young and healthy didn’t need to get vaccinated, a claim which Dr. Anthony Fauci called “incorrect”.

“If you want to only worry about yourself and not society, then that’s OK,” Fauci said of Rogan. “But if you’re saying to yourself, ‘Even if I get infected, I could do damage to somebody else, even if I have no symptoms at all’… that’s the reason why you’ve got to be careful and get vaccinated.”

Rogan has since walked back his controversial statements, asserting that he is “not a respected source of information,” and saying: “I’m not a doctor. I’m a fucking moron.”
