Boots will 'do its part' in vaccine rollout says Seb James
Speaking at Prime Minister’s Questions, Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced 24-hour vaccination services are being set out “in due course”. The fight against Covid is truly underway. Health Secretary Matt Hancock said: “Pharmacies sit at the heart of local communities – providing convenient places for those that are eligible to get their jab.” Boots in Halifax, and Superdrug in Halifax, will be among the first six sites to administer the jab.

In the coming weeks, Boots will be delivering the vaccine in its Huddersfield and Gloucester sites.
Managing Director of Boots UK and ROI, said: ““As we begin vaccinations at our Halifax pharmacy today, we are incredibly proud to support the NHS during this extraordinary time.
“Pharmacies are extremely well placed to support the roll out of this vaccine quickly and safely.”
Patients will be invited directly by the NHS to book their Covid vaccination appointment at local pharmacies.
So far, around 2.6 million people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccine.
The government has set themselves a hefty target of vaccinating 15 million of the most vulnerable in society by mid February.
There will be 200 community chemists joining the mass vaccination programme, alongside 200 hospital hubs and about 800 GP sites.
Michael Henry of Superdrug said: “Today sees a significant step forward in making the vaccination more accessible to people most at risk from coronavirus.”
